Hello all,

I just finished a very fun and interesting weekend at the Toronto Fan Expo. If you haven't gone to a con or an expo you must, there something else to behold. Some of you might be like there are so many nerds, well yes there are but there all so positive and happy to be in a place that celebrates there nerdom, which I'm very happy to be a part of.

Please enjoy my new art that I just finished and I very happy with. Last year I did a very cartoony kids book style and this year I want to change it up. So I went with a more comic book look to my characters that I chose and splashed them with ink, all on my Cintiq of course because ink is very messy. So please enjoy and comment you hearts out.

"Hotbox" Concept Drawings!

Wow…it’s been sometime since I posted anything on my blog. Well, the reason for that is because I’ve been super busy working on 2 different series at Smiley Guy Studios in Toronto. It’s been crazy, but crazy does mean the bills are getting paid.. so sorry for those who ever come and look at my art.

Anyway the drawings I’ve posed were some concept art I worked on for a series that has now been cancelled called “Hot Box”. I also animated on it doing character animation, FX and a limited amount of design work. If you see the show , (you can find it on the Comedy Network’s website), I did a lot of the scientist sketches, French toast hawk and Rage Rabbit. Rage Rabbit is limited but it was a break from the scientist stuff. There’s one I did for it were there are 20 scientists fully animated and over a hundred moles in the shot all going crazy. The concept design I did were for 2 of the animated sketches, French Toast Hawk and Life Boat. Things changed from my design to the final one that was picked but I’m happy that I can now share them with you.

Wow it's been a while since I posted anything up on my old blog and that's a bad thing I really need to stay on top of it. So these are some layouts I've been working on for a project of my own, which all have the characters taken out of them, sorry. I'm still going strong with the graphic style and really enjoy the results. I hope everyone likes what they see and comments, comments, comments some more. Enjoy.

Super heroes are cool, from cartoons to comic books to movies they have the ability to entertain and inspire, and they did just that to me. I have to say since I was a little kid I would get up extra early on Saturdays to watch Iron Man and the Fantastic Four cartoon on TV. I don’t know why they showed those cartoons so early? But to me, at that age all I knew was that I had to get up and watch them. Over the years of being both entertained and inspired I have drawn these characters countless times to learn how to draw and I owe a lot of my love of art and animation to superheroes, as many of us do. I continue to draw these heroes but not like in the comics, I go for a different look from time to time.

Being an animator has helped me over and over again to explore different styles and expand how things can look different from what people are used too. Taking shapes and changing the look of things so they are familiar but have a style all their own. This was the thought behind turning these very iconic super heroes into my own fan art, simply to celebrate the characters.

The heroes I chose are Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wolverine, Ironman and the web-slinger himself Spider-Man. These are some of the biggest superheroes in North American culture and possibly around the world which makes them instantly recognizable. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of these classic characters.

Vacation Drawing 2

This is another vacation drawing that I did while I was in a tropical paradise...oh it was amazing :).The drawing is of a guy I saw playing soccer on the beach with a bunch of kids, it was a fun game to watch and draw from. Vacation Drawing 1

I went on a vacation with my girlfriend a couple months ago to the Dominican Republic and brought my sketch book. I drew a ton of people while I was down there and it was a lot of fun to sit on the beach or be at the pool with people bringing you drinks...AMAZING! Anyways, this is my first of a series of drawings that I will put up in the next little while.

The Sennachie

Well about a couple months back I completed a series of illustrations for a novelist and poet John Maxwell McCuaig. This will be my first published work and am truly proud of the work that I did and the book is called the Sennachie. The book deals with Scottish folklore and different historical events and characters.

The first image is the cover and actually was posted when I was finishing up the other illustration for the book. The character is the Sennachie, which is similar to a wizard or witch doctor of different cultures.

The second is of Rob Roy MacGregor who is similar to a Robin Hood.

The Third is the new Sennachie getting married.

This book is all poetry and is a great read, really worth picking up. I will post when the book comes out a let anyone who is interested where to pick it up and the cost. I don’t want to go into too much detail because I like when you’re not given too much information on a book and make it more of a surprise. ENJOY!

Scott Cashman #1

I was asked to do a poster for a charity golf tournament that's coming up in a couple of weeks. I did the work free of charge and donated to the tournament. The mans name was Scott Cashman and was a goalie who was drafted to the NHL, but his career was cut short due to back problems. Last year a tragic thing happen Scott passed away at 39. In a couple weeks there will be a golf tournamnet to help raise money for his family. I hope the poster does him justice and his family proud.

There's a design fun wall at work where you draw according to theme and the theme at this time is TIGER vs OCTOPUS. So I didn't feel like drawing a crazy fight scene to the death. Then I thought why not a battle of the brains and that led to a chess game. Enjoy!

Gran Torino

Well I've never scene a movie I like so much where I just really want to draw the main character, but Gran Torino did it. This movie is a must see and a great character study on so many different levels. It's not a PC movie at all but shows a realistic look at how people talk and think in different areas towards each other. Still being a movie it may go to extremes but really good! Also if anyone one is a fan of the Dirty Harry character you will be a fan of this film. Go see it and Enjoy!

Red and The Lady!

Well happy new year a couple weeks to late! I've been really busy at work wrapping up on the show I'm working on so I haven't been drawing as much. Most of the time I'm drawing just at my desk between uploads and downloads and these are to of those drawings. The was done with a blue, black and red pen. Kind of a British spy lady who's hot hot hot. The other one I started drawing on the subway of this lady just sitting there. She was just interesting and I finished at my desk, that was blue pencil and just a HB. Hope you like the ladies.

This idea came from a couple things, I was looking at post my friend Evan did of a character with a flamethrower so I had an idea of a character with one. Then I was thinking what could be in the in the flames coming from the torch. So I was thinking of having a contrast with the no emotion Pyro, to put a beautiful woman as the spirit of the flames. The technical stuff behind this piece is its all done with the tablet and no pencil to paper and I'm finally feeling more comfortable with the tablet. So I'm posting up the sketch, the line work and the final piece to show my thought process. I really liked making the post. Enjoy!

(P.S. for some reason the flame colour changed from yellow flame to blue upon upload...weird but still looks cool I'll try and figure it out and upload that on but for now check it out.)

Wow! It's been a long time sense I put anything up on my blog but I had a film to make and a last year of college to finish off. Also had to put together a website with my demo reel and all my work (best and most recent) up on it. But now that I have a bit of time to myself while I'm looking for a career in the field and hopefully get to make some more indy films because its a hard life but I dont want any other one. Well my 4 th year film is coming along I just finished up line work on more than 25 layouts... so yeah its been fun. and I'm not really a layout but I thought I'd show some of them off to update where I'm at one things, which is one step closer to the end. Which isn't that close because now there's colour and animation and clean up and it really never ends, but its a fun and interesting path to be had. Well these are only a taste of my layouts and hopefully I'll post some coloured stuff soon and update character shot. COOL!

Well I just finished a group film all done in stop motion yesterday, yippy. I was a lot of fun and a lot of hard work and it will be put up after the opening date in september for everyone to see, but for now these are some of the pencil drawing I did for the opening of the movie. Wow its been way to long sense I puut something up, my blog has been like a waste of internet space for a couple months. Overall just been busy with finishing up my summer stop motion group film, which should been done in a week or so. Well I haven't posted stuff in the longest time and that's for a couple reasons. One of them is that I didn't have the internet for a while at home and it just makes things harder. The other reason is that to get to a computer with the internet and take my drawings there and upload just seems like to much....

Anyway these are kinda fun loose drawing that I did for my aunt just because shes a big fan of dogs. So I just had fun with the line work and put some nice bright colours in there, isn't that pretty. Well I will be updating again in the next couple days, because I have tons of stuff from the summer.

I wanted to draw up a girl from the comics who I think is sometimes underdone and put my spin on the lovely Mary Jane. Wanted to show the sketch and the finished drawing to you can what it looks like both ways. With the finished work I left a lot of the pencil work and gives it a nice dirty feeling to the whole thing and enjoy the end result.

This is a older drawing from a while back but I still really like it. The TV monster which we all might become and seems to relfect something. You could put some social comment I'm sure and go for it you like everyone is intitled to say what they want, which is great. But I just like this guy and his enjoyment.

The Old west Bunch

I wanted to do a cast for a old west cartoon and thought of stereotyopes and put it all together. It's a flat style (UPA) and I think all the characters have a nice feel to them. This should all be coloured soon but wanted to throw up the pencil drawing of the characters when I got them over with. Enjoy!

Jay and Silent Bob, always good for a laugh and I enjoy drawing the because the characters are so animated. Missing the Clerks cartoon that was only on for 2 episodes and was a great lost to humour in general, and I hope the new movie will be good.
